It appears the company that runs the family of Bay Haven Charter Schools is ready to make a land deal for a new school site.
The schools are negotiating for the “old clay pit” property off Highway 390, about halfway between Highways 231 and 389 in Lynn Haven, as the site for a new North Bay Haven campus.
Bay Haven C-E-O Dr. Tim Titts went before Lynn Haven City Commissioners Tuesday to receive agreement on a couple of issue.
The school and the city butted-heads last year over the old Sallie Mae property. The city refused to give Bay Haven the permits needed to operate the North Bay Haven campus in the industrial park. As a result, Bay Haven sold the property earlier this year.
But Lynn Haven city officials say they're pleased with these plans, even offering the school to use of the city's ball fields about a mile west of the site.
Kitts is not releasing too many details about the plans for the 40-acres, but he told commissioners they plan to build their own athletic fields.
We should get more details when Bay Haven's board of directors discusses the land deal during Thursday afternoon's board meeting.
