Despite the flags many ignore them and venture into the water. In the last three days there have been a number of rescues and two drownings, one each in Bay and Walton Counties.

Late Monday morning, Bay County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Justice himself got into problems as he was rescuing a swimmer who had ignored the Red Flags. The deputy was able to help get the swimmer back to shore with some help from others.

Deputy Justice and the other man were both taken to the hospital by ambulance. We are told the Deputy is recovering nicely. No information on the near drowning victim is available.
