The Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance is teaching kids how to protect our local waterways through a family fun day.
The CBA honored National Marina Day at the Bluewater Bay Marina this morning.
National Marina Day celebrates boating and clean marinas, like the Bluewater Bay.
CBA organizers are hoping kids will learn how to maintain waterway facilities, like sensitive habitat, waste management, storm water control, and spill prevention.
Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance employee Sarah Davis explains, "Getting kids involved, I think it's important to instill practices in our youth because that's the future of our waterways. Our area, the economy of our area is sustained by clean and healthy waterways and I think it's important that people in the community recognize that."
Kids were also able to enjoy craft activities using recycled oyster shells, touch tank displays of live local marine life, and fish printing on t-shirts.
