Blountstown - Two people are charged, after Blountstown Police uncovered what they say is an insurance scam taking place at Calhoun Liberty Hospital.
Officials say that 35-year-old Cedric Bernard Simmons worked together with 26-year-old Dallas Hogans, an employee of the hospital, to take out three different life insurance policies on a 74-year-old patient at Calhoun Liberty Hospital. Those policies totaled over $200,000, and would have paid Hogans and Simmons $100,000 each.
Representatives say they began investigating the case when they were contacted by the acting administrator of the Calhoun Liberty Hospital in late September, when he first became suspicious that insurance fraud was taking place at the hospital.
The investigation resulted in the arrests of Hogans and Simmons, who are both charged with Conspiracy to Commit Insurance Fraud over $20,000. Hogans is also charged with three counts of Forgery, while Simmons also faces three counts of being a principle to Forgery.
