Mistaken Identity In ATM Theft Case

The Bay County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man they say withdrew money from an ATM with a stolen debit card. But it's not the man Newschannel 7 first told you about.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a car pulled up to the ATM outside he Wells Fargo on Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach around 2:00 a.m. on November 30. A man inside the car withdrew $300.

On Thursday (December 13), the Sheriff's Office released a photo from the ATM's surveillance camera.

After getting calls from both friends of the man in the photo and the man himself, claiming Newschannel 7 had the wrong guy, we contacted the Sheriff's Office. They tell us Wells Fargo sent them the wrong photo.

Late Monday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office released another surveillance photo (see photo above). You can see the suspect is in the back seat of the car, which is described as a white or light-colored four-door Infiniti. (Click the photo above to see a slideshow that includes an image of the car.)

If you recognize him, call Investigator C. Romans at the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 850-747-4700 or Crime Stoppers at 850-785-TIPS.
