Charity Poker Ride Benefits Local Man Battling Cancer

PANAMA CITY BEACH-- One local man who's battling cancer is getting some help from Harley Davidson.

Saturday morning bikers came to the shop on Back Beach Road to register for a charity Poker Run.

They rode to five checkpoints drawing a playing card at each one.

The goal was to have the best poker hand at the end of the run.

All proceeds from today will go to William "Doc" McCarthy and his battle against cancer.

Riders paid $20 and passengers paid $10. Organizers say they were thrilled with the turnout.

"And so I walked outside, and a buddy of mine, we're looking at each other. I was like you know we got to do something and here we are today and having a poker run, raising some money. It's neighbors helping neighbors," one organizer, Joshua Palmer, said.

The riders arrived at the Wicked Wheel Saturday evening for live music, food and raffle prizes.

They awarded prizes for the best poker hand Saturday night..
