CHIPLEY The 2014 Pre-Dixie Major World Series in Chipley wrapped up last night after 5 days of baseball.

Held at the Chipley High School Baseball Complex---11 state championship teams from as far as North Carolina were competing for the top spot.

The Chipley High School Baseball team came in as runner-up, losing to Mississippi.

Coach Andy Compton says the community support helped get them to the end.

"Our group that we had, you know, we knew that we would kinda be behind the 8-ball a little bit because all these teams played in the state tournament,” explained Head Coach Andy Compton. “We were down 6 nothing in the final game, came back and scored 5 and, and ended up losing 7 to 5, but it was a huge success for us."

It is estimated the tournament brought in around $300,00 for the county.

Compton says he's not sure just yet if he'll bid to host the tournament in 2018.
