Chipola Regional Career Fair Helps Seniors Plan Next Step

Posted: Wed 6:14 PM, Nov 14, 2012

Marianna- Students from Jackson, Calhoun, Washington, Liberty and Holmes counties packed into the East Side Baptist Church in Marianna Wednesday for the Chipola Regional Career Fair.

The kids met with representatives from dozens of colleges and companies, as near as Chipola College, and as far as West Point Military Academy in New York.

Poplar Springs High School Senior, Jacob Shattuck said he had known for years he wanted to be an architect and attend Pratt University after graduation. Even so, he said he still left the career fair with useful information.

"The guy in [the fair]- he gave me information on the FASFA, which is like, easy free money for going through college" Shattuck told us.

Shattuck said he had wanted to be an architect since the 10th grade. He told us he was hopeful the information he learned at the career fair would help make that dream a reality.
