The Village of Baytowne Wharf has spent much of the month of December promoting the holiday season with different activities for visiting families to enjoy.
"We have also had the holiday lantern parade, where people make lanterns and they walk around the village and there is holiday music, it is really fun,” said Lauren Robinson, Events Coordinator for the Baytowne Wharf. “We have also done the Wednesday night concert series where we have had three holiday bands, playing all this holiday music."
The activities have not only brought people in, but it has also helped with revenue in the retail department.
"We also have the ability to wrap the gifts, if you want them to; it is just a small fee,” said Maria Chung, Spokesperson for Sandestin Resort. “And while they are doing that you can take the family out, go ice skating, go out to dinner, and then come back. Your gifts are wrapped and it is time to celebrate the holiday."
And those who work at the Baytowne Wharf say they will continue to make the Christmas holiday a top priority for all visitors every year.
"This area just has so much to offer for the Christmas season,” said Robinson. “You may be close to the beach, but there is so much fun entertainment, whether it is music, dining or shopping in one area, and that has the biggest appeal."
The Village of Baytowne Wharf also has one of the largest outdoor ice skating rinks on the coast of Northwest Florida.
A light show will be taking place Christmas Eve and Christmas night.
