Commissioners are hoping to save big with a change to their emergency medical services. This morning they approved the relocation of the emergency medical services dispatch operators.
The EMS operators would be moving to the county's emergency operations center in Southport. The plans have been in place for years according to Mark Bowen, Emergency Services Director.
Commissioners and EMS officials both support the move, saying it will not only save money, but help with the response times.
Commissioners unanimously passed the new agreement which is estimated to save $20,000 a year.
Officials hope to have the move made and dispatchers ready on June 24th.
