Panama City - People could soon see better water and sewer service. Tuesday Bay County Commissioners approved Callaway and Panama City Beach to purchase two private utility systems run by Utilities Inc.
Commissioners already pledged $175,000 to Callaway and Panama City Beach to buy the private utility systems. The money will help Callaway provide water and sewer service to Sandy Creek, and Panama City Beach to help Bayside. Commissioners also waived $219,000 in regulatory fees collected by Utilities Inc.
"They really had some problems out there with the level of service they were getting. There are still some issue relative to the impact fee's their going to be charged for tying into the Callaway sewage systems, so those are some things we need to work out," said Guy Tunnel, Bay County Commissioner.
Utilities Inc used to provide service to those areas, but people complained it's too expensive and the service is bad.
