Community Mourns Death of Former Jinks P.E. Coach

PANAMA CITY- Former P.E. coach for Jinks Middle School passed away early Christmas morning.

John Richard Post Sr. was better known as Coach Post.

He was 90 years old, was born in Defuniak Spring, but moved to Panama City in 1931.

Many community members have fond memories of Coach Post.

They say he left a lasting mark on the school system.

"He's been a wonderful mentor and influence in the countless lives of countless students who had the privilege to under his teacher and his tudeladge," said Glenda Delmar, Principal Covenant Christian School.

Post taught at Covenant Christian school in 1988.

That was after retiring after 38 years of teaching and coaching at Jinks Middle school.

Post left a big impression at Jinks Middle School and they even named their gymnasium after him.

Even after his retirement, Post was still active member of the community.

Friends say he was not only passionate about teaching, but about religion too.

In his honor, a 5k and 10k run is being held at Saint Andrews State Park next year.
