BAY COUNTY-- Representative Gwen graham stopped by Rutherford High Friday to announce an act encouraging career and technical education.
The congresswoman spoke to students, teachers, and business leaders about the "Middle School Technical Educational Program Act" or "Middle STEP Act" for short.
The bill aims to help create a pilot program to bring schools together with businesses to engage in hands on learning. Graham says getting kids involved early in technical education will help spark their interests in college or a career.
"The younger you can get them excited about career opportunities, the more opportunities we have to keep them excited about coming to school as well,” the Congresswoman explained. “And there are jobs available. That's the thing; we have so many jobs here in North Florida."
Saturday, Graham will host "Panama City Military Academy Day" at the Bay District Schools Building from 12:30 to 3:30.
