BAY COUNTY - A private ambulance service, that handles non-emergency transportation, will stay in Bay County for another two years.
County commissioners renewed their contract with Lifeguard Ambulance Service.
Lifeguard provides advanced life support transfer service and basic life support transport service within Bay County. County commissioners also renewed their certificate of public convenience and necessity as part of Tuesday's decision.
"They have decreased wait times at the facilities they serve. They've employed local EMTs and paramedics and they make a positive contribution to the local economy," said Mark Bowen, Chief of Emergency Services for Bay County.
Lifeguard has alleviated some of the calls previously handled by the county's emergency management service, freeing-up those ambulances to respond to more serious accidents and trauma cases.
