DEFUNIAK SPRINGS Steven Cozzie's attorney now says his client killed Courtney Wilkes.
During closing arguments, defense attorney Spiro Kypreos said they agree with the prosecutions claim that Cozzie killed Wilkes in June 2011 while the 15-year-old was on vacation from Georgia.
But keep in mind, this is not part of sworn testimony. The defense rested Thursday without calling a single witness.
Kypreos is essentially trying to save his clients life by making a push for a second degree murder conviction, which would take the death penalty off the table.
Closing arguments finished about 12 noon. The judge is giving jurors instructions. They should start deliberating within the next hour.
