It appears DeFuniak Spring City Officials will not be selling the old city hall as previously planned.
The company that had been negotiating with the city for several months may be backing out of the deal.
The city planned to sell the company, which hoped to place three retail businesses on the site.
In turn, the city is hoping to build a new city hall facility off Highway 90.
The two sides apparently agreed to a sale price of around $3 million.
But not the buyer has some concerns.
"They came up and had some issues with the elevation of the property here,” said Mayor Campbell. “They basically have not signed the contract. At this point I am coming together to see if we can table together and what we need to do and we hope to salvage this sale and more than everything have these new businesses come in."
Mayor Campbell and City Council members plan to discuss their options at the next council meeting.
