Tuesday afternoon around 12:45, DeFuniak Springs police and fire department responded to a house fire on Morris Drive.
Once on scene, the resident identified as Timothy Herring was found outside the home suffering from severe burns on his legs.
Members from the DeFuniak Springs police secured the scene as members of the fire department fought to extinguish the fully engulfed structure.
Suspicious items were found that enhanced the possibility that the fire started while Herring was manufacturing methamphetamines. All items were located in the area where the fire is believed to have started.
The DeFuniak Springs police along with the State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating.
Charges against Herring are pending.
