First it was in Lynn Haven, now in DeFuniak Springs. The DeFuniak Springs City Council is considering an ordinance to allow the use of golf carts on city streets.
At Monday's city council meeting Mayor Harold Carpenter appointed a special committee of city officials to conduct a study that will examine which city streets would be best fit for golf cart accessibility.
Mayor Carpenter said if an ordinance passes it would be easier for senior citizens to get around, promote cleaner energy, and boost the economy with easier access to the town shopping centers.
"I think it would be a convenience for all of our senior citizens and will help with the traffic congestion as well" said Mayor Carpenter.
After the committee conducts their study, they'll bring their findings back to the city council where the issue will then go for a vote.

What a wonderfully cute and adorable "puff piece" on a community infested with political corruption and "Good O'le Boy" politics. Can't wait for this Spring's Flower Garden Competition in DFS! Mayor Carpenter needs to ride into the sunset on a golf cart!
