A Bonifay man may be facing charges for a traffic crash in Panama City last week that resulted in a delayed death of an infant

The crash happened around 6:00 in the evening last Wednesday at the intersection of Baldwin Road and Sarasota Avenue in Hiland Park.

State troopers say 39-year old Michael Cooper tried to cross in-between some vehicles that were stopped. They say he pulled in-front of 23-year old Nathan Merchant, who was heading west on Baldwin. His passenger 19-year old Tara Merchant was pregnant.

Paramedics took her to the hospital, where she gave birth the next day, Thursday. But the infant died at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola 3-days later.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Cooper could face charges for the infant's death.
