Panama City - State budget cuts may prevent the Bay County Health Department from getting the resources it need to carry-out the goals of it's 2011 business plan. The plan is a road map for allocating funding based community health needs.
For instance, Administrator Doug Kent was hoping to expand dental care this year. But 35% of the department's budget, about $3.3 million, comes from the state.
The Florida Department of Health proposals could mean job cuts and no-longer paying primary-care services, which would cost the health department about $400 thousand .
"It would have a great affect on us. It affects not only doctors time. It affects the programs we have here and in the future it would affect how we do services here," Kent said.
More than 16-hundred jobs state wide are on the line.
