This past legislative session, lawmakers worked to make massive changes to the election law to avoid major issues at the polls. Recently, Governor Rick Scott signed a bill to extend early voting across the state.
Secretary of State, Ken Detzner says he believes the changes will help fix issues on a state level.
“That was the goal the governor sent me out with the department of state employees to find out with the supervisors what did we need to solve the problem. I think we addressed it on a bipartisan basis and I think we are well on the way to solving that problem,” said Detzner.
The change to law is in response to last year’s presidential election, where votes were still being counted days after President Obama was already declared the winner.
