Elections Officials Prepare for Election Day

Posted: Thu 8:33 AM, Oct 18, 2012

Local elections officials are trying to make sure there are no problems with the equipment that will be used on election day.

Workers at the Bay County Supervisor of Elections Office are testing each piece of the equipment as usual, but this year Supervisor Mark Andersen is taking extra precautions with testing the modems that send the results from the precincts to his office.

Andersen says it's been a problem in past elections, most due to downed lines or bad internet connections.

"Sometimes a modem is not working correctly or needs an adjustment" said Andersen, "and that's what we do, but it's strictly a communication between our office and our canvassing board room but they could still be delivered that same night and not be an issue."
