Kayaker's Boat Found, Kayaker Still Missing


The yellow kayak belonging to a man who has been missing for ten days is found on Okaloosa Island Thursday.

James Joseph Kane III and his dog were last seen kayaking May 13th on Lake Frederick Beach near Pensacola.

According to investigators, the kayak was found on the shoreline on Eglin Air Force base property on Okaloosa Island about noon Thursday but still no sign of Kane or his dog.

"We've searched over 5,600 square miles of ocean and the bays and inlets from Navarre to Alabama. We're not able to locate this young man or his dog," said Stan Kirkland.

Investigators are still looking for other items Kane had taken with him including a black and silver pelican brand kayak paddle, a camouflage "dry bag", a dark red ski vest style jacket and on olive green Columbia brand broad rim hat.

Police are looking for him anywhere between Apalachicola and New Orleans.

Kane, his dog, and everything he had with him at the time have been missing since May 13th.

Police are hoping someone will know something about him, before the busy holiday weekend.
