Military and defense officials from across the country are in Panama City this week for the 17th annual Expeditionary Warfare Conference.

The conference touched on new US Navy and Marine Corps technology and techniques that can be deployed in foreign conflicts. Many of the new systems help answer the need for cost effective weapons.

There's also a new emphasis to build a stronger presence in the Pacific, with a buildup of forces in Okinawa Japan, Australia, and Guam, however the majority of the research and development of new weapons and technology will take place at US bases like Naval Support Activity Panama City.
