The only witness who testified for the defense in the Timothy Foxworth aggravated child abuse trial is now facing charges.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office has arrested John Lloyd on perjury charges, which means prosecutors believe he lied on the stand.

Lloyd testified as an expert witness. He told the jury there was a slight chance Foxworth was telling the truth when he told police he fell in the tub while holding his infant son. But prosecutors said Foxworth beat Emory, causing permanent brain damage.

According to Lloyd's website, Lloyd specializes in biomechanics of head and brain injury. But prosecutors say he's no expert. State Attorney Glenn Hess says Lloyd has “been discredited across the country.” During the trial he hammered Lloyd on his credentials, including the fact that Lloyd is not a medical doctor.

Foxworth was convicted of child abuse and sentenced to four years in prison.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office will hold a news conference at 1:30 p.m. about the arrest of Lloyd. We'll be there and have the latest tonight on News Channel 7 at 5:00 and 6:00.
