Port St. Joe officials are scheduled to meet with FEMA representatives Monday to assess damages and funding needs after Tropical Storm Debby.
Infrastructure damage and beach erosion have been the biggest problems seen in Gulf County after the storm but they're focusing in on a historic landmark that's been in jeopardy for quite some time.
Mayor Mel Magidson was out surveying the erosion around the county's lighthouse on Cape San Blas Sunday. Severe wind and rain from Tropical Storm Debby wiped away an additional 12-feet from the main access road leading up to the lighthouse.
City officials are hoping FEMA workers will grant funding to help move the historic attraction to a more secure location.
It will cost an estimated $325,000 to make the move. That meeting is scheduled for at 9am at the Port St. Joe Government Building.
