Back in 2009, the Panama City branch was given a choice, they could either close their doors or increase enrollment.
FSU Panama City set a goal to have 1,400 students by this fall, so far they have exceeded that goal by 14 students. It is an increase of 44 percent in three years.
Administrators hope that number will continue to climb. FSU-PC achieved the goal in-part, by adding new on-line and classroom course offerings.
The campus should get an additional boost next fall, when the school begins admitting freshmen.
Isabeau Weaver is a senior at FSU and says she loves the campus and small classes. “It is great for the community because we gain more education that we can put back into the community and provide better jobs,” said Weaver. “FSU in a way is helping provide more jobs for Panama City."
Weaver plans on getting her masters, and sticking around Panama City, putting her education back into the community.
