FSU President Leaving for Penn State

FSU President Eric Barron

Beginning Monday Florida State University will be looking for a new president.

Dr. Eric Barron will be leaving the post to accept the presidency at Penn State University.

The official announcement comes Monday.

It's a homecoming of sorts for Barron who served at Penn State from 1986 to 2002 as a professor, department director and Dean of College of Earth and Mineral Sciences.

Dr. Barron became the President of FSU in February 2010.

During his tenure, he oversaw a 1-billion dollar capital campaign, spearheaded efforts to establish a campus veteran's center, and earned a U.S. News & World Report top ranking as “the most efficiently operated university in the nation”.

No word yet on Florida State's search plans for a new president.
