Marianna- It's every parents worst nightmare. A knock on the door in the middle of the night. Krista Stevenson's mother, Jeannette Leslie recounted the moment she found out her daughter had been murdered.
"They were asking me, 'Do I know Andrew' or, 'Do I know where he would be at?' And I answered them, 'no' and kept asking what was wrong- what was wrong? And then one of the lieutenants told me they was looking for [Johnson] because he had stabbed and killed my daughter."
Andrew Johnson is being held without bond on an open count of murder in the death of Krista Stevenson.
Both Johnson's father and mother extended sympathies to Stevenson's family. "I want to let the family know we are deeply sorry" Johnson's mother, Vicki Phillips said. "It was a great loss to both families." But Stevenson's family was having a hard time accepting they're apology.
"They didn't loose nothing" Leslie said. "They didn't loose nothing. They still able to see him, talk to him, hug him, touch his head. What did they really loose? I can't do that. I just really can't do that no more."
Stevenson left behind four children, two of them by Johnson. Her family told us they would make sure the two youngest children, ages two years and four months, would grow up knowing their mother.
"She loved her family. We will let her know who she is through pictures, through video's through memories. I mean, we're not going to let her just rest. She's going to be well known even though she's not with us" Leslie said.
Krista's viewing will be held Friday from 2:00 PM- 6:00PM at Vann's Funeral Home in Marianna. Her funeral is at 2 pm this Saturday, at 2nd West Assembly on Pennsylvania Avenue in Marianna.
