Candidates for Panama City Police Chief Position

Panama City officials have a pool of 11 men from which to chose a new police chief.
The city is replacing former Chief John Van Etten, who retired from the job at the end of October.
Scott Ervin has been serving as acting police chief since Van Etten retired, he wants the job permanently.
Ervin is one of 11 people who have applied to become Panama City's new police chief.
The other 10 applicants come from 6 different states.

-Kevin Scott Ervin, Panama City, Florida
-Sal Ruggiero, Odessa, Florida
-John Russell Powell, Dothan, Alabama
-Mark Cornett, Orange Park, Florida
-Jack Touhy, Oak Lawn, Illinois
-Gene Paul N. Smith, Jacksonville Beach, Florida
-Bill D. Press, Fairhope, Alabama
-Jeffrey L. Hample, Brandon, Mississippi
-Lawrence N. Cavallaro, Lakeland, Florida
City Manager Ken Hammond said he will either interview all 11 candidates, or narrow the list and interview the finalists.
