Firefighter Held Without Bond In Ex-Girlfriend's Murder

Joseph Moody

The Panama City firefighter accused of killing his ex-girlfriend will now be held without bond.

Joseph Moody was back in court for the second time in three days. This time, charged with murder.

Police say Moody confessed to shooting 24-year-old Megan Pettis Tuesday afternoon as she tried to leave parking lot of the 23rd Street Publix. One bullet hit her in the head. The other hit her in the leg.

Moody was originally charged with attempted murder and his bond was set at $1 million. But that all changed Wednesday night when Pettis was pronounced clinically dead.

Charges were upgraded to murder and his bond revoked. Moody is due back in court on May 7.
