PANAMA CITY BEACH- Panama City Beach is welcoming a new event that organizers are hoping will become a mainstay.

The American Blues Fest is set for Aaron Bessant Park this weekend. The festival will bring a big boost to local charities.

The festival will feature some of the best blues players and groups in the country, including Blues Hall of Famer Joe Louis Walker, rock veterans Canned Heat, and Royal Southern Brotherhood, featuring Cyril Neville of the Neville Brothers and Greg Allman's son, Devon Allman on guitar.

The barbeque challenge isn't some backyard amateur affair. Twenty of the best pit masters, including three national champions, will compete for $10,000 in prize money.

All of the proceeds for the event are going to benefit dozens of local charities. "All of our local kids and families have their needs and this great even this weekend will make sure that all the agencies here locally can continue to do so," Gulf Coast Advocacy Center Executive Director Lori Allen said.

One day passes are $30.00. Two day passes are $50.00.

You can buy tickets at the gate.
