Five Georgia woman are in the Bay County jail, accused of participating in an organized theft ring, targeting local retail stores.
Panama City Beach police arrested the group Tuesday at Pier Park, after a store employee confronted them, and one of the women allegedly hit the store worker.
Inside of their car, officers say they found more than 7,000 dollars worth of merchandise, shoplifted from store in Pier Park and the Panama City Mall.
They recovered all of these clothing and personal care items from stores like Victoria’s Secret, Hollister, Bath and Body Works, American Eagle, Justice for Girls, Carters, Claire's, and Charlotte Russe.
Beach police say this same group has been stealing from panhandle stores for more than a year.
They believe the women were taking the merchandise back home to Albany, Georgia and selling it.
All of them are charged with a number of counts of grand theft in Panama City and Panama City Beach, as well as battery for the Pier Park incident, but authorities say they could file more charges as this investigation continues.
29 year old Eurika Green, 24 year old Tchequera Brown, 23 year old Jamie Anderson, 37 year old Shocka Bishop, and 25 year old Ashley Anderson are all facing theft charges.
