Florida Celebrates Lighthouse Day With Free Admission

CAPE ST. GEORGE-- For those of you looking to do something adventurous and free of charge this weekend, Saturday is Florida Lighthouse Day.

Residents and tourists can climb the Cape St. George Lighthouse for free.

It's one of several lighthouses across the state participating in the event. Usually adults have to pay $5 apiece and children cost $3 each to go up the lighthouse.

"It makes us really happy that so many people can come at no charge and climb the lighthouse. We do have a lot of folks that come and climb it anyway. This is a really special day when people can bring their kids and come and climb," said Terry Kemp of the St. George Lighthouse Association.

Organizers say if you want to climb the lighthouse, you have to be at least 40 inches tall.
