If you lose your job in Florida, chances are you will have a hard time finding another according to new study.

Florida has the highest rate of long term unemployment in the nation. The latest census data shows 53% of jobless Floridians were out of work for more than six months.

Local workforce officials say the length of time a person is unemployed depends on several factors including their work history, background and the type of job they're searching for.

Typically in our local viewing area, unemployment is lower in the spring and summer months, as many hospitality jobs reopen for the tourist season.

In the past year, Florida’s unemployment rate dropped to 9.9%, as some 130,000 jobs were created.

A lot of people don't want to work. I know a farmer that needed someone all summer to help him with feeding his cows and general maintainance of a farm and he could not find anyone that would work full time. They wanted to work a few days then quit. This position required a man for the work or I would have done it.Some money is better than NO money but if anybody can fall back on the well fare and sit on their butt they'll do it regardless of possible work or not.
