Suntrust Bank was the only bidder during Thursday’s on-line auction. The bank bid $100 and now has clear ownership.
She bank started foreclosure proceedings on the church 2-years ago, trying to collect $3.3 million dollars worth of debt.
Pastor Markus Bishop filed for bankruptcy, trying to block the sale. But the bankruptcy judge eventually ruled against Bishop, clearing the way for the auction.
Suntrust has not announced plans for the property, but will most likely sell it.
Bishop, in the meantime, started a new church on South Thomas Drive in a building formally owned by Gulf Beach Baptist Church.
Meanwhile, a legal proceeding involved in a number of years in overdue back taxes on Bishop’s multi-million dollar parsonage, is still tied up in Bay County Circuit Court
