Former Arnold Teacher Could Lose Teaching Certificate

A former Arnold teacher, fired for mistreating his special needs students, could be losing his teaching certificate.

Keith Christie got into trouble last year for allegedly verbally abusing and mocking his special needs students.

He reportedly made his students act like pigs, and threatened to punch one of them.

Next month the Florida Department of Education will decide whether to accept a settlement agreement that would suspend Christie's license for one year, followed by two years probation.

Christie would pay a $500 fine and $150 in administrative probation costs, and attend class management and ESE teaching courses.

If both sides accept the deal, Christie won't contest the charges, but doesn't have to admit or deny the accusation either.
