Former Dothan Doctor Denied Parole

Updated: Wed 8:21 AM, Nov 28, 2012

DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) -- The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles has denied the parole request of a former Dothan doctor, who was accused of molesting two patients.
Authorities say 59-year-old Dr. Gregory Johns will continue to serve prison time for two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
Johns is scheduled to be released in June 2014. He is being held at Easterling Correctional Center in Clio, Alabama.
Prosecutors say Johns was an emergency room doctor at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in 2006 and 2007 when two female patients reported being molested by him.
During trial testimony in December 2009, a woman claimed Johns fondled her during her visit to the emergency room on Sept. 30, 2007. The woman, 26 at the time, said she went to the emergency room after feeling shoulder pain. She said Johns ordered a combination of drugs that rendered her groggy and “in and out.” She said she was too incapacitated to resist.
A 19-year-old Panama City, Fla., resident also testified about a similar incident on Nov. 4, 2006, after she was admitted to the emergency room for acute intoxication
