Friends and co-workers of a young Fountain man killed while riding his bike on Highway 231 this week are doing everything they can to help his family pay for his funeral expenses.
Anthony Hinds, 21, was riding his bike home from work at the Hardee's at the 231 truck stop. Hinds was hit by three cars on Highway 231 and died on the scene.
Hinds' friends spent all day Saturday at the 231 truck stop offering to pump people's gas and wash their windshields for donations. They raised more than $2,500 dollars for Hinds' family. His friends say the communities generosity has renewed their faith.
"I’m not used to that. I'm from Orlando, people died all the time. You know, I’m not used to somebody caring enough just to hand over 150 dollars. So I broke down first thing this morning. Not used to people being so caring. This place is amazing," said the victims best friend, Michael Voyer.
Hinds' friends and co-workers will be back at it Sunday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the truck stop on Highway 231 and Highway 20.
