According to AAA, the price for gas has seen a small but steady decrease over the past month, and residents and visitors alike are enjoying the relief as the busy summer driving season begins to take off.
With gas prices nationally averaging at $3.49 a gallon, Bay County is below the trend with gas prices ranging from $3.40 to $3.50.
Those filling up say they're noticing the difference and are grateful, but think they'll see a big jump with July 4th weekend right around the corner.
"I'm happy to see it going down, but I see on special occasions, special weeks and things like that, because of tourists, they go up," says local Nancy Stanford.
"I'm hoping to see it go down more because I think eventually we're gonna end up pulling from our own reserves, but the lower it goes the better," says Donna Lasseter.
"It would be great to be under $3 a gallon again, but take what you can get, you know what I mean? Beggars can't be choosers so you take what you can get," local Mick Martin said.
Just a few months ago, AAA had the average gas price in Florida close to $3.75 a gallon.
Sunday, their website has the average at $3.45 statewide.
