Girls Inc. Golf Tournament Benefits Local Chapter

PANAMA CITY BEACH-- Two local organizations partnered this morning to host the 7th Annual Girls Inc. Golf Tournament.

Girls Inc. of Bay County and the Holiday Golf Club celebrate the life of Ashley Slonina every year.

The University of Florida student was killed seven years ago in a motorcycle accident.

All proceeds collected will benefit the local chapter of Girls Inc.

About 130 people signed up this year to participate, including Panama City Police Chief Scott Ervin and Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman.

NewsChannel 7's Scott Rossman and Ryan Michaels also joined in the tournament.

"We're really thankful for the community and the participation for our sponsors, and we have a great time. And us being able to have a memorial event for Ashley Slonina, that's just another part of being in our neighborhood," Girls Inc. of Bay County Executive Director Tammy Dunaway said.

The Holiday Golf Course installed new greens across the entire course last week

This was the first tournament played on the fresh green.
