Man Facing Child Porn Charges Cuts Deal

The state has cut a deal with a local man who was facing child pornography charges.

Local authorities arrested 51 year old Darius Goodin in December after finding child pornography on his laptop computer.

He was facing 16 counts of possession of sexual performance of a child.

But prosecutors say the child pornography may have been attached to adult pornography files, and unintentionally downloaded.

They say a number of other people had full access to Goodin's laptop, so they couldn't prove he was responsible.

Last Monday, Goodin pled no-contest to the charges.

In-exchange Judge James Fensom designated Goodin a registered sex offender, sentenced him to 8 years probation and community service hours.

Goodin reportedly lost his job as a Civilian Engineer at Naval Support Activity Panama City, where he served as the program coordinator for the base's summer partnership program, supervising some of the area's brightest high school students in a summer jobs program.
