It was the jobs Governor versus the jobs Governor Monday as Governor Rick Scott took Texas Governor Rick Perry on a fishing trip in Destin.
The Republican leaders were joined by veterans.
In the end, Scott and his fishing partner outcast Perry five fish to three.
Perry accepted a second place trophy, but reminded Scott Texas is winning the race to create jobs.
While Governor Scott and Governor Perry were casting reels in the Gulf of Mexico, Mitt Romney was in a bus touring Florida without his running mate.
Romney selected Congressman Paul Ryan over the weekend. Ryan was in Iowa Monday. Democrats say his budget plan to cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security doesn't play well with Florida's massive retirement population.
Before heading out on the boat, Scott spent the morning with Romney as he launched the Florida leg of his bus tour.
The appearance marks the first time this campaign season Scott and Romney have appeared together in public.
Romney has been avoiding Scott, partially because Scott has been boasting about Florida's economic success, while Romney has been spinning a message that the country is hurting and the president is to blame. Monday on the gulf, both Scott and Perry said only Romney can help them get their states back to work.
