Gulf Coast State College Tops Off

Gulf Coast State College is one step closer to finishing its Advanced Technology Center.

Officials with the school say the $35 million investment will help bring jobs and training back into Bay County. They celebrated their topping off ceremony Tuesday morning signifying the last beam being put in place.

President Jim Kerley says that once completed, the services will focus on jobs and development by preparing students with technology skills. He says these skills will be essential for jobs in the future.

To kick off their fundraiser, Pathways to the Future, the Gulf Coast State College Foundation donated $1 million towards college programs, scholarships, and equipment.

Organizers also received money from Rep. Jimmy Patronis, the Gulf Coast Alumni Association, as well as local business.

Kerley predicts that the building will be finished in June of next year.
