PANAMA CITY-- Gulf Coast State College Foundation board members officially welcomed the college's new president Friday evening.

Foundation members held a reception, including a number of community leaders, to honor Dr. John Holdnak. Holdnak was the Board of Trustee's unanimous choice among the five finalists to replace the retiring Jim Kerley.

Holdnak is no stranger to Gulf Coast. He held a number of positions from 1982 to 2008, from teaching to administration.

"Some of the things i hope to bring that maybe we haven't done before, there is an emphasis on working with faculty to improve the science and teaching on campus. I hope to work with the foundation in the coming months and years to see if we can't have as an idea, an indobet teacher program," said Gulf Coast State College President Dr. John Holdnak.

Dr. Holdnak said his main priority will always be the students, providing the best education for their future endeavors.
