CHIPLEY, Fla. A long-time Bay County politician is getting back into public service.
Harold Bazzell will become the interim Washington County Clerk of Courts at 1-minute after mid night New Year’s morning.
Bazzell will replace Linda Cook who is retiring due to health reasons.
Gov. Rick Scott's office opted not to appoint Cook's replacement, leaving the decision to Judge Hence McClellan. Judge McClellan issue the order Monday.
Bazzell will bring a lot of experience to the office. He served as Bay County's Clerk of Courts from 1981 to 2008, when he stepped-down from the job.
Bazzell will be sworn into office at 8:30 Thursday morning at county commission meeting chamber.
He'll serve as Washington County's Clerk of Courts until this coming November's general elections.
