Former Bay County Clerk of Courts Harold Bazzel has a new job, at least for the next 10-months.
Bazzel took the oath of office Thursday to become the Interim Clerk of Courts in Washington County.
He's replacing Linda Cook, who retired Tuesday after 30-years of service.
Cook is battling lung cancer and decided it was time to hand-over the reigns to someone else.
Bazzel brings experience to the job.
He served as Bay County's Clerk of Court for 28 years until his retirement in 2008.
He's already starting with some challenges.
He and his staff will be working out of the county annex, due to a mold problem in the courthouse.
Bazzel says that's a priority.
"The courthouse, I was not aware of until just a few days ago but that will be the top priority. Then, sit down with the staff and see what the issues are," said Bazzel.
Bazzel will serve as clerk until voters elect a new one during the November general elections.
