If you made your way over the Hathaway Bridge Tuesday night, you probably noticed a lot of waving hands and maybe some "blue."
It was all a part of the Gulf Coast School for Autism's 2nd annual "Light it up Blue" event. Students and supporters from the Bacot Academy for autism were also there.
Tuesday marked World Autism Awareness Day and event organizer Katrin Patterson, owner of Gulf Coast School for Autism, said that was exactly the goal of "Light it up Blue."
"With Asberger's being out, it's even harder for a lot of parents to get the services they needed and the help and everything that they need, so it's a little bit more difficult now, so now it's more important than ever to get the awareness out there."
