Early morning rain poured down on parts of Walton County, causing major flooding.
Some were stuck on the side of the road.
Others were stuck in their homes.
Flooding shut down roads in both north and South Walton.
Parts of the road on Highway 98 were submerged in water.
High waters covered vehicles in parts of Miramar Beach and the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
And there's more rain expected.
“Based on our last weather report we are expecting another inch, could be a little more, it could be a little less, it just depends on what happens with the weather coming up in the future,” said Louis Svehla, Public Information Officer for Walton County.
Wednesday afternoon County Officials and Emergency Management personnel met to discuss their next moves.
They've decided to close Walton County schools again on Thursday.
County offices would be open, but as for road repairs, that might take a while.
"Hopefully these waters will recede as much as possible so we can get to work on our roads where they need repair,” said Svehla.
Walton County Commissioners will hold a special board meeting Thursday at 9 a.m. to discuss what happened Wednesday, and what to do with the roads.
