Holiday Travel Benefits Small Businesses

JACKSON COUNTY All that holiday traffic is a boom to businesses along the major highways.

Jackson County businesses like The Peanut Shack and Nan’s Country Store on Highway 231, count on those tourists to stop and buy their goods.

And they say the Fourth of July and Labor Day holidays are usually their busiest weekends. But it's not just about the money.

"It makes people happy,” explained The Peanut Shack cashier. “I mean, they wanna have fresh watermelon and fruits and peanuts and stuff like that. It brings people closer together. And it helps out the community too."

AAA estimating 41 million people will travel this holiday, the highest number in seven years.
